## Google Analytics vs Google Analytics GA4

> **Warning:** **PLEASE NOTE**: All standard Universal Analytics properties will stop processing new hits on July 1st 2023. Check out the new [GA4 API Docs](https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/config/admin/v1) for more details.

Google Analytics are deprecating their old API (v3) in favour of the new Google Analytics 4 (GA4) API.
**No re-authentication is required when switching from Google Analytics to Google Analytics (GA4)**.
Workflow migrations will only be required if a you need to create or configure a Google Analytics 4 property. For this you must use GA4.

### Properties

Google Analytics 4 uses a new kind of property, with different reports than what you're used to seeing in Universal Analytics.
One advantage of a Google Analytics 4 property is that you can use it for a website, an app, or both a website and app together. Whereas Universal Analytics properties only support websites.

### Detailed summary

* \*\*30th June \*\*2023:
  * Customers will be able to access their GA4 properties with the new **Google Analytics (GA4)** connector.
* \*\*1st July \*\*2023:
  * Customers using Universal Analytics properties will not be able to create new Universal Analytics properties.
  * Customers will continue to be able to access/run reports on Universal Analytics properties using the Google Analytics connector for at least 6 months. That is until Google Analytics deprecate those endpoints (at which time we will also deprecate this connector).
  * Here is a[ link](https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/config/mgmt/v3) for more information on the soon to be depreciated API. Remember that this API does not support Google Analytics 4 (GA4) properties.
  * After July 1st, any new properties will need to be GA4 properties and use the new \*\*Google Analytics (GA4) \*\*connector
* \*\*7th July \*\*2023:
  * Customers will be able to run reports on GA4 props with the new **Google Analytics (GA4)** connector

  * 360 Universal Analytics properties will stop processing new hits on
