Connect SOAP web services to your workflows

Point the SOAP Client at a WSDL, see the methods it describes, and send requests in raw XML.

What can you do with the SOAP Client connector?

Older ERP, finance, logistics and public-sector systems often expose SOAP web services rather than REST APIs. The SOAP Client reads a service's WSDL, from a URL or an uploaded file, lists the methods it describes and sends requests you write in raw XML. It supports Basic, Bearer and NTLM security, or you can reuse any existing Tray authentication.

Automate & integrate SOAP Client

Automating SOAP Client business processes or integrating SOAP Client data is made easy with Tray.ai.

Use case

Bring older systems into your workflows

Call a SOAP service from the same workflow that updates your CRM and data warehouse, so an order, invoice or shipment in an older system reaches the rest of your stack.

  • No middleware to maintain
  • Older and newer systems together
  • One workflow, one log

Use case

Explore a service before you build

List SOAP methods shows every method in the WSDL, and Describe client returns its services, ports and methods, so you can see what is there before writing a request.

  • Every method listed
  • Services and ports described
  • Faster first request

Use case

Authenticate the way the service expects

Choose Basic, Bearer or NTLM security on the request, which covers many Windows-based services, or reference values from an existing Tray authentication.

  • Basic, Bearer or NTLM
  • Reuse existing authentications
  • Secrets kept out of XML

Challenges Tray.ai solves

Common obstacles when integrating SOAP Client — and how Tray.ai handles them.

Challenge

Writing raw XML

SOAP requests are verbose XML, and the SOAP Client expects you to write it.

How Tray.ai helps

You write only what goes inside the SOAP header and body, and Describe client shows what each method expects. Values from earlier steps can be dropped into the XML.

Challenge

Keeping up with service changes

A stored copy of a WSDL goes stale when the service changes.

How Tray.ai helps

Load the WSDL from its URL, as Tray recommends, so the client reads the current definition.
